The exhibition “Honor and Strip”

In early January 2025 year in the Chernihiv regional historical museum named after. VV. Tarnovsky opened the exhibition "Honor and Struggle", that tells about European military traditions in the context of Ukrainian history, covers the period from IX to the middle of the XIX century.

During this time, Ukraine has gone a difficult way - from the powerful medieval feudal state "Kievan Rus" to the loss of sovereignty and the division of its lands between neighboring states, from the restoration of independence to the need to defend themselves again with weapons in hands. Ukrainians directly participated in many iconic battles, who determined the further fate of Europe. As an integral part of European civilization, Ukraine has always been an effective participant in all processes in military affairs-from the tactics of combat and the use of the latest weapons to philosophical and ethical issues.

At one time outstanding philosophers of Ancient Greece and Rome - Plato, Aristotle, Cicero, - In their writings, they laid the foundations of an ethical understanding of war, which, later, developed Christian thinkers of the Middle Ages.
