In the works of Mikhail Ivanovich Denisenko (1917–2000) folk traditions and professionalism were organically combined, great experience and natural artistic taste. It comes from MI. Denisenko from the family of potters from his great-great-grandfather from the village of Oleshnya - one of the largest and oldest pottery centers in Chernihiv region. His formation as a ceramist began with his appointment to the position of chief artist of the Vasylkivka majolica plant.. Under his leadership, a small ordinary enterprise became a world-famous production, and the product was named "Vasylkivska majolica".

Mykhailo Denysenko's work is based on the best folk traditions of different regions of Ukraine. The influences of Chernihiv and Kyiv pottery are especially noticeable.

In Chernihiv Historical Museum named after VV. Tarnowski are preserved 46 робіт майстра, dating from the 1960s to the 1980s.

Due to the closure of 2006 year, the Museum of Folk Decorative Art of Chernihiv works are not exhibited, and stored in the vault.
