In the photo 1917 year, which was made in the great hall of the House of Nobles' Assembly in Chernihiv, we see two Ukrainian flags. To date, this is the only known photo depicting Ukrainian symbols of the era of the Ukrainian Revolution, that was done in the summer 1917 year.
The flags are in a place of honor. They are made according to heraldic traditions, the inscription "NATIONAL REVOLUTION" is visible on one of the flags.
The author of the photo is the Frenchman Moses Chambon (1871-1945) - teacher of the Chernihiv Real School, amateur photographer, who lived with his family in Chernihiv from 1913 to 1920 year. He was born in the town of Thiers (Франція). We can assume, that M. Chambon responded to the events, which took place in the provincial center starting in the spring 1917 year. He was their direct participant, and therefore, had the opportunity to photograph events that were fateful for Ukraine.
