25 July 2024 year in the Chernihiv regional historical museum named after. VV. Tarnovsky, a museum meeting "Sports Angels for the Protection of Ukraine" was held (commemoration of dead Chernihiv sportsmen).
On the eve of the start of the Olympic Games in Paris, those present paid tribute to the warrior-athletes, who lost the most precious - their lives in the struggle for the Independence of Ukraine.
As a result of Russian aggression, many athletes from Chernihiv region, like almost 500 athletes from all over Ukraine lost the chance to participate in the competition, to win in sports arenas and were deprived of the right to live.
At the museum meeting, the relatives of the deceased athletes - Oleksiy Dyagovets - spoke, Dmytro Muzyryov and Serhiy Telushkov. Oleksiy Anulya, who knew Yurii Vorona well, Serhiy Lysyuk and Oleksiy Diagovets shared memories of their friends, teachers and siblings. Dean of the Faculty of Physical Education of the Chernihiv Collegium National University named after. Т.Г.Шевченка, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences Serhii Kudin, told about the forge, where athletes are trained and nurtured; veteran and ambassador of the veteran movement in Chernihiv Serhiy Dovbysh introduced adaptive sports and its influence on the participants of the Russian-Ukrainian war. Those present could see the photos of the French photographer Yury Bilak and an online presentation about the dead Chernihiv sportsmen, which took place to songs performed by singer Svitlana Vertebnaya.
Moderator of the event, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, associate professor Yuliya Parishkura announced the running of the race "I honor the soldiers. I am running for the hero of Ukraine" and the preparation of a collection of essays about deceased sportsmen.
For the meeting, senior researcher Svitlana Zemlyanska and museum artist Nina Vargan created an exhibition, dedicated to dead athletes, based on things, which were handed over to the mothers of Yurii Vorona and Andrii Pedora.
