Why "Yalivshchyna"?

The collection of the Museum preserves the tsikave dzherelo under the title “Report on the strength of the warrant of the General Military Chancellery in the Chernigov Regimental Chancellery according to hundreds of certificates, composed of which rivers and creeks there are in the Chernigov Regiment… 1754 year of August 25 day". 1908 Dr.. it was printed in 7 edition of “Proceedings of the Chernigov Provincial Archival Commission”. Information consists of 2 parts: 1, information sent by hundreds of offices (they were printed, have 34 sheets, розміром 34 х 21 see, inv. No. Vp 1474/35) та 2, of the consolidated list of the regimental office on 24 sheets (clerical numbering of the sheet. 82–105), розміром 36,5 х 23 see. Both lists got to ChGAK through the mediation of Vadym Modzalevskyi from the archival heritage of the historian of the Hetmanship Oleksandr Lazarevskyi, who was preparing a note for printing but did not have time - death prevented him (only the introductory notes have survived). Evacuation of museum funds in 1941 Dr.. and their return after the liberation of Chernigov from the Nazi occupiers, loss of stock accounting documentation, the lack of specialists caused some chaos in the accounting of stock collections. It took some time to settle down. In the museum inventory book for 1948 Dr.. and the inventory card for the same year contains both parts. However, for some reason in 1983 Dr.. chief custodian Vasyl Murashko crosses them out and now the autograph of the introductory article O is recorded in the inventory book. Lazarev (inv. № Ал 601). Пізніше, in 1986 Dr.. 1 part was again included in the inventory books, when V. Murashko compiled a collection description of archival materials of the 17th - 20th centuries. from the proven collections of the museum, which did not pass the inventory after returning from evacuation in 1944 р., and also from the collections of the Prylutsky Museum, received and not entered in the inventory books in 1953 Dr.. (129 from. Coll. of 12868 sheets). 2 part was discovered in 2026 Dr.. among the papers of the Trotsyn family and will soon be included in the museum fund.

Information about the rivers of the Chernihiv regiment, 1754 рік. The first sheet.

Autograph of the historian Oleksandr Lazarevskyi

Strizhen River, 1913 рік. Yalivshchyna is in the background.

The manuscript contains information that, in comparison with other sources, allows us to find out the origin of the toponym "Yalovshchyna" or "Yelovshchyna" or "Yalivshchyna". Do 1754 Dr.. the mill of Bunchuk's comrade Kostyantyn Lyzogub stood on the site of the modern tract. However, he was not the first owner of this mill. In station wagon D. Many sinners from 13 June 1672 Dr.. it is about the mill on Strizhna of Chernihiv district of Vasyl Yalotskyi. Пізніше, in Ivan Mazepa's station wagon from 17 September 1687 Dr.. the town hall mill of "surnamed Yalotsky" is mentioned. Royal charter from 26 March 1690 Dr.. approves "mill on Stryzhne"., nicknamed Yalotsky" after the Chernihiv Vito Stefan Otrokhov. But already 3 this mill is transferred to the Chernihiv regimental train driver Nikifor Kalennikov by royal charter: “mill with three wheels, purchased, with forest tracts”. About O. Lazarevsky, Vasyl Fedorovych Yalotskyi from 1672 by 1680 рр. was a Chernihiv governor, а з 1693 by 1696 рр. - Gluhiv centurion. In. Krivosheya gives other data. This is a distinguished nobleman, coat of arms "Sas" (… 1650 – 1712…), Gluhiv centurion (1678–1687, 1689–1696). He had several mills on the Yasman rivers, Loknya, Puppy. No mention of the Chernigov mill. And here 1666 Dr.. Chernihiv burgher Vasyl Semenovych Yelotskyi is mentioned. Whether we have some confusion here or whether these are different persons is currently unknown. Cook 1666 Dr.. in the description of Chernihiv it is written "on the river Stryzhne Dam, and rowing Mlyn Veshnyak Yalovetsky, and in it there are two wheels of grain-mills and unempty, abroka is worth six rubles”. Remains of Yalotsky dam and mill (or Yelotskyi) existed at the beginning of the 20th century. It is necessary to remind, that upstream of Stryzhne were the "Glebovshchyna" tracts, "Borkovshchyna", below - "Lyzogubivshchyna", named after the surnames of the owners and located along Stryzhny in the area of the modern village of Pivtsy. Отже, the toponym comes from the surname of Chernihiv burgher Vasyl Semenovych Yelotskyi.
