10 September 2024 year marks 130 years since the birthday of our famous compatriot, a native of the village of Sosnytsia - Oleksandr Petrovych Dovzhenka.
Oleksandr Dovzhenko is a world-renowned film director, who was brought world fame by the movie "Earth" (1930 р.), which was included in the twelve best films of the 20th century. Oleksandr Petrovych is a screenwriter, the founder of Ukrainian poetic cinema, writer, and most importantly, a loving son of Ukraine.
The beginning of his adult life coincided with the active phase of the Ukrainian Revolution of 1917–1921: Dovzhenko became not only an observer, and its participant.
The logical conclusion of the search for one's place in life was the entry into cinematography, in which he left a legacy of world significance, until party censorship began to interfere in the creative process, which tried to control all spheres of life.
The life of a famous countryman, like every person, was full of contradictions. Thin, his perceptive mind enabled him to understand the tragedy of Ukraine, which came under the rule of a totalitarian regime, many years before, like us today, relying on open archives and documents, we can analyze the dramatic pages of our history.
Another facet of the artist's talent was revealed during the Second World War. Dovzhenko during the war – the film director seems to recede into the background.
Dovzhenko is a writer and publicist. Secret thoughts were reflected on the pages of the "Diary", which he began to conduct in 1941 Dr.. This is a philosophical understanding of the fate of the Ukrainian people, history of the nation. And ten years later, the author's thoughts are relevant, written as if today. One of them: "On Ukrainian lands and villages, the fate of humanity is being decided in fire and flames, the huge problem of world hegemony is solved, the fate of humanity is decided on our misfortune. Such is our unfortunate fate. Such is our unfortunate fate" ("Diary", 5 April 1942 р.).
Oleksandr Petrovych's love for Ukraine was embodied in the film story "Ukraine on fire". For a long time O. Dovzhenko was divorced from Ukraine. He was seriously ill and dreamed of returning to his native land. However, he was forced to work and live in Moscow until his death - it was easier for the authorities to control him.
Today, Dovzhenko returns to us again, in his films, works. In the Chernihiv Regional Historical Museum named after V. In. Tarnovsky, exhibitions were traditionally created for compatriot's anniversaries: in 1994 the first was created in the Military Historical Museum, biographical. Later - thematic exhibitions, which revealed his creative activity, focused attention on a difficult life path or were exhibitions based on the works of Oleksandr Petrovych.
Modern events of the war force museums to work in new conditions. On sorry, the possibility of exhibiting museum exhibits is limited today, it affects the exhibition activity. That is why past "pre-war" exhibitions are remembered with nostalgia and gratitude to colleagues – museum workers, who always helped. Photos were presented at all our exhibitions, archival documents, personal belongings of the artist from the Sosnytsky Literary Memorial Museum O.P. Dovzhenko. Today we congratulate our colleagues on the compatriot's anniversary. We remember with pleasure communication with sincere people, open, benevolent, willing to cooperate with the staff of the memorial museum.
We are grateful to the staff of the Chernihiv Regional Art Museum named after Hryhoriy Galagan for the works, who supplemented the historical part of our exhibitions with artistic images.
We gratefully remember the cooperation with the actors of the Youth Theater Oleksiy Bysh and Lyubov Veselova. The actors complemented one of the exhibitions based on the pages of the "Diary" and literary works of the war period with a masterful performance of a creative production, based on these works.
Sincere words of thanks to all colleagues, who engages in memory retention.
Тож, let's honor the talent of the singer Zacharovnaya Desna, a great loving son of Ukraine, our compatriot Oleksandr Petrovych Dovzhenko. And, можливо, this is another reason to flip through the pages of his works: immerse yourself in the unique, sensitive worldview, to think and analyze our past.
