On 20 May 2023 Dr.. to the Memorial Day of T. T. Shevchenko in the Chernihiv Historical Museum named after. In. In. Tarnovsky, a temporary mini-exhibition of "Kobzars" and books of the 19th century was opened. related to the life and activities of the poet.
In. In. Тарновський, a sincere friend and admirer of T.'s talents. Shevchenko, collected the largest shevchenko collection in Ukraine. Among it, an important place belonged to the poetic collections of the works of a prominent Ukrainian. According to the library catalog V. In. Tarnovsky, created by Maria and Borys Hrinchenko in 1902 р., fifty-one collections of the poet's works are listed 1840 Dr.. by 1896 Dr.. One of the most valuable among them was the first "Kobzar" printed in 1840 Dr.. On sorry, in the 30s. ХХ ст. the vast majority of them, together with the first edition, were transferred to scientific institutions, first in Kharkiv, and later - Kyiv. Today, ten "Kobzars" from the library of V. have been preserved in our museum. In. Tarnovsky, the oldest of them is "Kobzar" 1860 Dr.. with the poet's autograph.
Presented at the exhibition: seven original collections of poetry of the Ukrainian genius from 1862 Dr.. by 1894 р., one facsimile reproduction of "Kobzar" in 1840. and two books with biographical information about T. Shevchenko with gift inscriptions of the authors to the founder of the museum (M. Novytskyi and M. Shugurova under the pseudonym Vasiliev). The vast majority of books at the exhibition come from the library of V. In. Tarnovsky.
The oldest among those preserved is the Polish translation of the works of T. Shevchenko, made by the poet Andrzej Gozalczynski in the author's book "Przekłady pisarzy małorosyjskich. T. And. Taras Shevchenko» (Ukrainian. "Translations of Little Russian writers. Т. And. Taras Shevchenko"), printed 1862 Dr.. in Kyiv at the printing house of the Imperial University of St. Volodymyr. Twenty-four works of the poet were published in it, including his "Testament".
Among the exhibits there is one of the famous "Kobzars", issued in Prague in 1876 Dr.. The publication was carried out on the initiative of the "Old Community" and thanks to Oleksandr Rusov and Fedor Vovko. They became its editors. It is interesting, that the book was officially banned for distribution and printing in the Russian Empire. This is not surprising, because it was in this year that the infamous Emsk decree was signed banning the printing of books in the Ukrainian language.
The exhibition presents one of the "Kobzars" T. Shevchenko in Polish, the latest Belarusian translation, Polish-Lithuanian poet Ludwik Kindratovich under the pseudonym Vladyslav Syrokomlia. The translation was financed by a well-known person in the second half of the 19th century. publishing house "Polish Bookstore" in Lviv A. Bartashevich and M. Biernatskyi, who started an inexpensive book series at the time called "Biblioteka Mrówki" (Ukrainian. "Ant Library"). In this series, "Kobzar" was published under no 66. Visitors can also see two more "Kobzari", issued in Lviv 1893 Dr.. та 1894 Dr.. in the printing house of the Scientific Society named after T. Shevchenko edited by K. Bednarskyi. The second book was published by order of the "Enlightenment" society.
The illustrated "Kobzar" printed in St. Petersburg in 1896 Dr.. and illustrated by the well-known artist and sculptor Mykhailo Mykeshin. The introduction was written by connoisseur T. Shevchenko, writer D. Mordovian.
Among the "Kobzars" preserved in the museum, which do not originate from the library of V. In. Tarnovsky, it is worth noting that it is a unique copy 1883 р., which belonged to a well-known Ukrainian writer at the time, ethnographer and popularizer of creativity T. Shevchenko - to Ivan Nechuy-Levytskyi. Autographs are of particular importance to her, as the writer himself, as well as representatives of Ukrainian culture of the second half of the 19th century., eg, Mykola Lysenko.
