The war of values

29 November in the Chernihiv Historical Museum named after. VV. Tarnovsky, a screening of the film "War for European values - we choose freedom and democracy" took place, created by students CHONL Chernihiv Regional Scientific Lyceum within the Euroclub project, which operates at the educational institution (conductress Antonina Fedorchenko) with the support of the project of the EU Representation in Ukraine "Information support of EU networks in Ukraine" and a meeting with the young team of the lyceum.
The idea to shoot the film arose in the spring, and during the summer school, the Chernihiv Historical Museum named after Vasyl Tarnovsky had a certain influence on this decision, whose exhibition projects were visited by lyceum students. So it's no accident, most of the interviews were filmed in the museum itself.
Andriy Svyridenko, lyceum student 11 class:
"February 24 2022 I thought for a year, that I have no future, which they want to take away... I will never forget the sounds of explosions, the whistling of shells. I will never forget that day, when a shell hit my house..."
Sofia Martynenko, lyceum student 11 class:
"U 2014 I was a year old 6 years and I went to the 1st grade. I know, that the war continues 9 years. I don't know this from TV, books or textbooks. All this time I am doing volunteer work. Before the full-scale invasion, I was a normal teenager with my own pretensions to the world, as it turns out to be too unfair. You appreciate, when you lose... Only fear for life remains. Not your own. For the life of relatives. Most of the children in Ukraine became adults at the same time. This is us with the children in Mariupol, the theater survived the bombing. We are going under the bridge in Irpen, carrying a kitten, because that's all, what is left of our home. It's us holding mom's hand, who was killed by a Russian soldier in Kramatorsk. This movie is about us, about our values, belief, about our future".
Олена Трухан, senior researcher of the Chernihiv Historical Museum named after Vasyl Tarnovsky:
"This is a war for the Ukrainian nation, because the Russian troops have come to completely destroy us".
Vadim Platonov, lyceum student 11 class:
"We are now fighting for our identity, for his nation. If we gave up, as the Russians wanted, Ukraine would cease to exist. They want to erase us, they are trying to clean up our language, our traditions. As long as we keep it, we are Ukrainians. Our value is in our identity, as in every European country".
Lyceum students and teachers visited the museum. All together, overcoming a bunch of technical obstacles, watched the movie. After the screening, a lively discussion took place: young girls and young men answered the questions of the museum staff and in turn asked us questions.
After the meeting, a tour of the new museum exhibition "Collection of Valentin Ivants" was held for our guests.
