Exhibition in Sweden

On 15 by 18 February 2024 representative of the Chernihiv regional historical museum named after. VV. Tarnovsky, as part of the Ukrainian delegation, participated in events and meetings on the occasion of the presentation of the international exhibition project "Crossroads: Sweden - Ukraine through 1000 Tarnowski will host a round table "Trebnik" of Metropolitan Peter Mohyla.

This is the first large-scale Ukrainian-Swedish cultural and artistic project during the restoration of the Independence of Ukraine and a fateful museum event in the conditions of the Russian-Ukrainian war.

The exhibition was presented 15 February at the Museum of the Swedish Army (м. Стокгольм, Kingdom of Sweden). King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia came to its opening, VO. the Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine Rostyslav Karandeev and the Minister of Culture of Sweden Parisa Liljestrand, members of the Swedish government, director of the National Swedish Museums of Military History, Helen Ronlund, Director of the National Archives of Sweden, Karin Astrom, Swedish scientists, історики, military. The Ukrainian delegation was represented by employees of the Ministry of Culture, heads of several dozen national reserves, archives and regional museums (серед них: National Reserve "Sofia Kyivska", National Reserve "Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra", National Historical and Cultural Reserve "Hetman's Capital", Central State Historical Archive of Ukraine, Lviv Historical Museum, Kharkiv Historical Museum named after M.F. The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, delivered a congratulatory speech in video format.

The exhibition illuminates mutual relations, cultural and historical ties from the period of Kyivan Rus to the present day. A special role is assigned to the period of the Hetmanate, when two political unions were concluded between Sweden and Ukraine.

The author of the idea of ​​the exhibition from the Ukrainian side was Yurii Savchuk - director of the National Museum of the History of Ukraine in the Second World War. Memorial complex.

Chernihiv regional historical museum named after. VV. Tarnovsky provided the largest number of items for the exhibition (35 exhibits), dating back to the 10th–18th centuries., a significant part of them is devoted to the period of hetman Ivan Mazepa. A delegation of Ukrainian museum workers headed by acting. Minister of Culture R. Karandeev, in the following days of their stay, they also visited the National Archives of Sweden, storage of the Museum of the Swedish Army, Vasa Museum, where they got acquainted with the work experience of Swedish colleagues in museum and archival affairs.
