19 December 2025 year in the Chernihiv regional historical museum named after. VV. Tarnovsky, the exhibition "Witnesses of the Past" was opened. Memorial furniture of the 16th century, XVIII, ХІХ ст. from the collection of the Chernihiv Historical Museum named after. V. V. Tarnovsky", which presents furniture, photographs and paintings from family estates of ancient Ukrainian families - the Galagans, Tarnovsky, Кочубеїв, which played an important role in cultural, educational and public life of Ukraine.
Two "sgabello" chairs are unique exhibits at the exhibition, which belonged to the Kochubey family. The juiciness of carving, the saturation of the decor indicates the late Renaissance period of the objects, dating from the second half of the 16th century. "Sgabello" by construction and shape, probably, - Florentine work (Італія). Despite the primitive design, the chairs surprise with their luxurious carvings. "Winged dragons" are carved in the center of the backs, likely, - owners' coats of arms. Women's masks are depicted on the backs and in the center of the front supports, and the contour framing is in the form of winged female figures, which grow into dolphin tails.

Most of the furniture at the exhibition are chairs, chairs, tables, cabinets from the estate of the Galagan family in the village of. Sokyryns of Prylutsky District, Poltava Governorate. The furniture is made in different artistic styles: ампір, Biedermeier, neo-baroque, Neo-Rococo.
From among the memories of the Galagans, a cabinet-supplier from the end of the 18th century attracts special attention. and two chairs of the 19th century., which have a common feature - in their decor there is the family coat of arms of the Galagans. An English floor clock of the first half of the 18th century is exhibited at the exhibition. by the famous London master William Jourdain, as well as armchairs - "troughs", which were popular in the interiors of noble estates in the 19th century.
Chairs are presented at the exhibition, made in the Romanesque style. They are of exceptional interest, so, that we know the master's name. He was a serf Galaganiv - Rybalchenko.
On prevelikij Zal, there is no furniture in the collection of our museum, which belonged to the Tarnovsky family, owners of the estate in the village. Kachanivka, Borzen district, Chernihiv province. But we have the opportunity to see photos and art canvases, which depict furniture, who lived in different periods of the history of the Kachaniv Palace, her owners and surroundings.

The exhibition allows you to see not only furniture, who witnessed the past, but also to feel the spirit of the times, in which some of the best representatives of the regional elites of Ukraine lived, that were inspired by Ukrainian history and culture, nurtured Ukrainian identity.
The opening of the exhibition was attended by teachers and students of the Chernihiv Music College named after. L.M. Revutskogo, who are our permanent partners. Ukrainian folk songs arranged by Mykola Lysenko performed by students of Elizaveta Ludinova-Sofia Golovchenko's class were performed, Maria Livenko, Alina Krasnozhon. Visitors to the exhibition received special satisfaction from "Elegy" by Mykola Lysenko, performed by Iryna Slabenyak on the oboe, college graduate, student of the Academy of Music named after. Janacek (м. Brno, Czech Republic).
