11 April 2023 in Chernihiv Historical Museum named after VV. Тарновського відкрилася виставка «Великодні писанки», within the framework of the project “Ethnicity”.
Well-known folk craftswoman Olga Kostyuchenko, Maryana Vatsenko and Iryna Kryshtal presented their works. More than five hundred Easter eggs are on display, made by various techniques, typical for the Chernihiv region.
At the master class, Maryana Vatsenko presented the entire process of making Easter eggs, told about the symbolism of the drawings, use of natural and chemical dyes.
During the opening of the exhibition, it was also possible to see unique Easter eggs from the 11th - early 18th centuries. (clay and bone) з колекції музею, which were found during archaeological works in Chernihiv and near the city, near the village of Shestovitsa.
