25 January 2024 Dr.. in Chernihiv Historical Museum. VV. Museum meeting was held in Tarnovsky 175-anniversary of the famous artist's birthday, public figure and director of the Museum of Ukrainian Antiquities named after V.V. Tarnovsky Ivan Hryhorovych Rashevskyi (1849–1921).
Among the representatives of his kind, Ivan Hryhorovych was one of the most prominent figures, having combined versatile abilities in both professional and social activities: lawyer, artist, музикант, artist-reciter. The last ten years of his life I. Rashevskyi was the director of the Museum of Ukrainian Antiquities named after V.V. Tarnovsky. It was this fact that Svitlana Polovnikova, a senior researcher of the museum, drew attention to during the anniversary event. Ivan Rashevsky was never indifferent to history - he donated family heirlooms to Chernihiv museums, loved historical subjects in painting and literature. On sorry, most of the master's works were lost during the Second World War.
The artist's creative heritage, which is now kept in the Chernihiv Regional Art Museum named after Hryhoriy Galagan, Oleksandra Ostryakova, a senior research associate of this institution, dedicated her speech, who spoke about the paintings of I.H. Rashevsky in the museum collection. The presentation was complemented by the original works of the artist "Daily Bread" (1906 р.) and a portrait of the famous scientist-economist V.E. Varzara (1917 р.) from the funds of the Chernihiv Historical Museum named after. VV. Tarnovsky. Портрет В. Varzara became an asset thanks to senior research associate Lyudmila Oleksiivna Maiboroda (1948–2022), who accidentally came across him in the village of Velyki Osnyaki, Chernihiv district. At one time, the artist's workshop was located there, the premises of which have not been preserved.
