A generous gift to the Museum in honor of the 125th anniversary

1 December 2021. famous Chernihiv collector Oleksiy Mykhailovych Yemets on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the Chernihiv Historical Museum named after V.V.. Tarnowski made a gift to replenish the museum collection. This is the archive of the Novgorod-Seversky teacher Anna Kindrativna Menshova, which dates from 1888–1948 (autobiography, questionnaire, Help, certificates, court and official documents, statements, etc.). The documents reveal the difficult fate of the Ukrainian intelligentsia, in particular teachers, in the dramatic changes of the early twentieth century., adaptation to Soviet realities and, despite all the trials, fidelity to its mission - to educate children.

On the occasion of the anniversary of the Museum, it was especially nice to receive such a rarity, like a letter from 29.12.1907 on a form from the Chernihiv Diocesan Treasury to the Podolsk Historical and Archaeological Church Society, on cooperation, after all, a part of the modern museum collection is the CHED collection.

In addition to archival materials, Unique faleristics items were donated to the museum, як-от: prototype of the Badge of the Laureate of the Chernihiv Regional Prize named after Mykhailo Kotsyubynsky 1992 year, double prototype of commemorative medals "Chernigov Higher Aviation School of Pilots named after. Lenin Komsomol. 25 years. 1964-1989 "and" 10 Military Aviation School of Initial Training of Pilots. Kremenchuk. 30 years. 1959–1989»; memorial double medal "Chernigov Higher Military Aviation School of Pilots named after the Lenin Komsomol. 40 years old" 1991 year.

Oleksiy Yemets also presented several stamps of the end of the XIX - beginning of the XX century. Among them is the famous brand for bricks with the coat of arms of Chernihiv. Bricks with his imprint are still common during the landscaping of the city.

Oleksiy Mykhailovych has been cooperating with the museum for a long time. Objects from his collection have been repeatedly studied by museum scientists, and the results were published in the museum magazine "Treasury of Ukrainian Culture". The donor expressed his opinion on the creation of a museum in Chernihiv, the exposition of which would be formed according to the thematic-subject principle with numismatics halls, weapons, expensive utensils, etc..

In his turn, the director of the Museum Serhiy Laevsky thanked the donor with the catalog of silver frames of the Gospels XVII – XVIII, stored in the Museum, who recently saw the light. Cataloguer, Chief Custodian Anna Arendar put up her gift inscription and expressed her sincere gratitude to the collector for the gifts.
