26 September 2024 year to the 1000th anniversary of the Chernihiv Principality in the Chernihiv Regional Historical Museum. VV. Tarnowski hosted a museum meeting.
The Principality of Chernihiv was at the origins of the formation and development of the ancient Ukrainian state (Kievan Rus, Kyiv state, ancient Rus', Kyiv Empire). The city of Chernihiv became the center of the principality of the same name.
The topic of the meeting is "Chernihiv - the capital of the Chernihiv-Siver Principality". The main speaker was the well-known Chernihiv archaeologist Yurii Sitii. He noted, that the territory of the principality expanded gradually, hence, this led to an increase in the financial and political capabilities of the center of the principality. At the beginning of the 13th century. the city occupied an area of almost 450 g, and could live on the territory of Chernigov 30-40 thousand. residents.
A one-day exhibition of unique artifacts was presented as part of the meeting, stored in the Museum's collection. So, you could see unique things. In particular, symbols and heraldic signs of princely power, а саме: seals of Chernihiv princes - sons of Yaroslav the Wise (Svyatoslav Yaroslavych, Vsevolod Yaroslavych) and Yaroslav's granddaughter (Volodymyr Monomakh). Two seals of Prince Svyatoslav Yaroslav were directly found in Chernihiv. A heraldic pendant with the image of a trident was also presented (discovered during excavations in the regional center), яка, probably belonged to the first Chernihiv prince Mstislav Volodymyrovych.
