22 August 2022 year in the Chernihiv Historical Museum named after V.V. Тарновського до Дня Державного прапору та 31-й річниці відновлення Незалежності України відбулась чергова Музейна зустріч. It was dedicated to honoring the statesman Levko Lukyanenko.
Residents of the village of Sedniv, Chernihiv district, Zinaida Hryhorivna Lukyanenko, visited the museum, sister of the Ukrainian dissident of the 1960s-1980s, public and political figure, Hero of Ukraine Levko Hryhorovych Lukyanenko, and the poetess Taisia Timofievna Mytsu. Levko Hryhorovych was born 24 August 1928 year in the village of Khrypivka in Chernihiv Oblast.
At the beginning of the meeting, Svitlana Sergeeva, a senior researcher at the museum, emphasized the continuity of Ukrainian state-building traditions from the time of the Ukrainian Revolution of 1917–1921 to modern Ukraine. Reminded, that during the revolution, for the first time in the 20th century, the first Ukrainian parliament, the Central Rada, IV Universal from 22 January 1918 proclaimed a sovereign state independent from anyone - the Ukrainian People's Republic. That is why in the draft of the Act on Independence of Ukraine, written by Levko Lukyanenko, at first it was about restoring the independence of Ukraine. The communist majority of the Verkhovna Rada of the Ukrainian SSR rejected this version and 24 August 1991 adopted the "Act on Proclamation of Independence of Ukraine". Modern Ukraine inherited the democratic principles of state formation from the Ukrainian People's Republic, coat of arms, anthem, flag, currency hryvnia, Ukrainian as the state language.
Zinaida Lukyanenko shared interesting memories about her brother Levko Hryhorovych, who for his convictions and tireless struggle for Ukrainian statehood 26 spent years in Soviet prisons and camps, and after the first release from 1976 lived in Chernihiv with his brother Oleksandr in a house on the street.
