Outstanding criminologist Oleksandr Kistyakivskyi

190 років тому, 26 March 1833 Oleksandr Fyodorovych Kistyakivskyi, a Ukrainian scientist, was born in, criminologist and legal historian, professor of Kyiv University.

He collected, systematized and published in 1879 Ukrainian code "Rights, by which the Little Russian people are judged", 1743 year, the original list of which is kept in the Chernihiv Historical Museum named after. В.В.Тарновського.

His brother, Volodymyr, academician, developed the film theory of corrosion. You are, Ihor Kistyakivskyi, lawyer, held the positions of state secretary and minister of internal affairs in the government of Hetman Pavlo Skoropadskyi (1918 рік). Alexander's father, Fyodor Omelyanovych, graduated from Chernihiv Theological Seminary, married Iryna Esmanska, the daughter of a local priest and began to rule in the Mykolaiv Church of Horodysh, Sosnytsky District, Chernihiv province.

It was a large family. Alexander's brothers and sisters were Melania, Mykhailo, Fedor, Vasyl and Pavlo. The Museum keeps the scientist's correspondence with Oleksandr Khanenko, which, in particular, deals with the printing of the codex and the study of the Magdeburg law in Ukraine. The graves of Oleksandr Kistiakivsky's parents have been preserved in Horodysh, but the Mykolaiv Church was moved to the Museum of Ukrainian Architecture in Pirogov a few years ago.
