Peter Ilyich Klimuk was born 10 July 1942 in the village of Komarivka, Brest region, Byelorussian SSR (now the Republic of Belarus).
After high school in 1959 entered the Kremenchug Military Aviation School. However, a year later the school was liquidated. Cadets, who wanted to continue their studies, offered to enter the Chernihiv Higher Military Aviation School of Pilots. So, in May 1960 year Peter Klimuk was among 130 чоловік, who came to Chernihiv. 1 September began classes in the educational department. Learning was not easy, as the program of higher education included practically all subjects of engineering high schools, but ambitious, the inquisitive and industrious young man soon became one of the best on his course.
Petro Klymuk started flying on a Yak-18 training plane in the spring 1961 year at the airport Malejki, and later mastered the UTI MiG-15 and MiG-17 jet fighters in the 701st Training Aviation Regiment.
Autumn 1964 year, having passed final exams, the future astronaut received a diploma with honors, rank of lieutenant and was sent for further service in the 57th Guards Fighter Regiment.
Do 1965 Peter Ilyich was enrolled in the detachment of astronauts. Has completed a full course of general space training and preparation for space flights on Soyuz-type ships and Salyut-type orbital stations, and later made three flights into space, as a crew commander:
1) with 18 by 26 December 1973 year together with flight engineer B. Lebedev on the Soyuz-13 spacecraft. The flight duration was 7 днів 20 hours 55 minutes 35 seconds;
2) with 24 May on 26 July 1975 year together with flight engineer B. Sevastyanov on the Soyuz-18-2 spacecraft to the Salyut-4 orbital station. The length of stay in space was 62 days 23 years 20 minutes 8 seconds;
3) with 27 June on 5 July 1978 year, as the commander of the international crew together with the cosmonaut-researcher M. Germashevsky on the Soyuz-30 spacecraft, to the Salyut-6 orbital station, to work with her crew - In. Kovalenko and O.. Ivanchenko. The length of stay in space was 7 днів 2 years 2 minutes 59 seconds.
The total duration of Peter Klimuk's three flights was 78 діб 18 hours 18 minutes 42 seconds.
12 April 1976 year - Peter Klymuk was awarded the title of Honorary Citizen of Chernihiv.

From July 2004 year - in stock. He worked as the head of the space monitoring department at the Moscow Aviation Technological University.
